Gonda Building

Rochester, MN

I had a previous post that was similar to this one. I just took this shot on my recent trip. This is inside the Gonda Building at the Mayo Clinic. The architecture is a work of art itself. You can see a little corner of the piano from yesterday's shot on the left side of this photo.

Wonderful work on this one. I remember you posting a pic similar. Amazing architecture. I will keep your husband in my prayers and if you have any questions please ask. I'm a cancer survivor too.

Hal, You are correct. It is a passage way, but there are chairs along the side with the Piano. People can stop by on their way through the many connected buildings of the Mayo complex and enjoy a small respite in the chair. If someone is playing, it makes the passage through or rest stop more pleasant.

Thank you Cindy. This information is most interesting.
The piano seemed to be in a passage-way, but obviously l was mistaken.
A dramatic building style and a marvelous photograph of it.

Very fine architecture picture! Only the M9 with that lens would give that depth of focus at f4,8. Really great work from you Cindy!

Very nice vertical framing fits this architecture.
I hope things are going well for you and your son.

Lots of light and space like a building should have.
And the statue reaching for, for, well for what ever you need I suppose!

Thank you Keith, Michael, Terry, Hal and Frank. I appreciate the comments.
Hal, This is the heart of the Mayo Clinic. The registration area is in the Gonda Building. They have the piano here and have many guest artists playing during the week. One day I walked by and a lady was playing and a group of visitors gathered around and started singing. I have also seen small guest "orchestras" playing other instruments.

Wow, I agree Cindy, this building is a work of art in itself.
A beautiful building, a great shot.

Cindy this photo is really top class. You did the architect proud.
And what an unusual place to put the piano.
Mayo has sure changed since l visited there many years ago.

Hah! I see three too, Cindy, great eye! I love this picture.
It captures the feeling of a beautifully designed and executed
building. Those curves are really something! And the sculpture
fits in perfectly. Great work!

LOL, I think I see 3 on cell phones. The man on the second floor in front of the child, the man between the two pillars on the lower level and (I think) the lady in the red jacket, are all on the phone.

Beautiful work of art, of a work of art.
I like the colors, especially, and the great curves.
Interesting...only ONE person on their cell phone in view!
That must be a record...
