Mr Harry Whittier Frees (1879-1953) found his niche photographing cats and other animals for postcards, books and ads. https://web.archive.org/web/20140516042209/http://www.onemoreriver.org/11267/
This is 1 cropped image from photographer Harry Whittier Frees who dressed animals up , most often cats, and would take film photography shots for them posing as and dressed as humans in various roles . He would spend hours to get them to pose just right and looking the correct direction to for multiple animals to be facing the right way etc. This was not done with Photoshop nor darkroom trickery . Old school practical to get the shot right, no matter frustratingly long it took.

Why burn the candle at both ends, when you can use an oxy acetylene torch in the middle more people will see the light
