This was the last hope I had to save at least 1/2 of my leg. the cancer came back after the 1st surgery. I tried a tibia turnplasty because my function and strength will be a million times better than if I had an above the knee amputation. My foot will function as a knee and my calf will function as my thigh.

Thanks for posting these pics.

Maybe one of the gifts your girl has left
us all is that of knowing spiritual strength;
the kind of inner strenth all of us
will need one day.
I just can not beleive that anyone could
have the kind of perseverence in the face of this
horor called cancer.
I never thoght one of my family would be claimed
by this medical beast, but my sister was.
She smoked heavily and was gone in a year.

You know what gets me? We can do the space shuttle thing and all the rest,
yet this despicable ,insidious THING we can not beat!!
I feel very angry towards it, but alas, anger never cured any cancer.
Scientists might, and they are generally quite dispassionate.

I just found this webpage today through Osteo-list. My 13 yr. old daughter has battled cancer twice. Rhabdomyosarcoma and Osteosarcoma (both in her right leg). She is currently in remission. It just breaks my heart to look at these pictures and see what Alyson must have went through. She must have been a very strong and brave young lady.
