The 'Clipper Lindbergh' is a Boeing 747-200, formerly owned and operated by Pan Am Airlines, and now repurposed as an airborne platform for the SOFIA Infrared Telescope. Here she is, parked in one corner of a humongous hangar capable of also housing a DC-9, a repurposed U2 spy plane, and NASA C20-A (a Gulfstream G-III). The floor area visible in this shot is approximately 15% of the total floor space of the entire hangar.
