Diary of a flight to "Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta" in Oct.1998
Is it really over 15 years now, since I flew to the Fiesta? I must be getting old. Clearly, a repeat of the adventure is long overdue. Let's take a look at these images to see how it could be done out of Silicon Valley. Back than in 1998, I was invited to visit a friend in Albuquerque, who was writing travel books, foremost about Southwest. Her guided tour helped me to explore Albuquerque and Santa Fe from a local perspective.

Day 1: SJC San Jose to INW Winslow, AZ, via APV Apple Valley.
Day 2: INW Winslow, AZ to ABQ Sunport Albuquerque, NM.
Day 3: Searching for Chaco Canyon and Puelbo, Acoma Pueblo with Fred.
Day 4: Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque with Erika.
Day 4: Trip to Santa Fe.
Day 5: Depart ABQ for SEZ, Sedona, AZ.
Day 6: Sedona to SJC, San Jose International via APV Apple Valley.

Looking back at this flight, I cannot help myself to be nostalgic: These were better, simpler times. Before "9/11," General Aviation was flourishing. Flying was affordable and was considered an adventure, not a threat to national security. And the economy was flying too!
