Winslow to Albuquerque, 5.Oct.1998
I took off from Winslow in a good weather and set heading toward Albuquerque. For the first time I saw the surreal plateaus of Arizona and New Mexico. Later I was made aware that this territory connects to Zuni, incl. the Zuni Pueblo (Halona Idiwan'a), and to the Navajo Nation. When the midday sun heated the surface, air became very turbulent. Most of the photography was spoiled by this circumstance. After I was handed over to ABQ tower, they vectored me in for the final approach. Good service! The surroundings make it difficult to spot anything, if you are not familiar with the vicinity. ABQ has several runways, and it sits adjacent to the Kirtland AFB.
