Centerpiece

Centerpiece

The holidays are fast approaching. Soon tables will be decorated with fine cloths, floral arrangements and cornucopias. We gamers and builders have a different idea when it comes to readying a table!

For this competition let's make a piece of terrain that is the focal point on the table. Your goal is to build something impressive that can be used as an objective as well. Of course it won't have to be placed in the center of the table. As long as the piece is definitively important to it's surroundings.

The piece may be any size (within reason). I would like to see a base but it is not required. Dioramas are fine if you'd like to show a scene. A modular board is also fine. The piece can be linear or area. The piece may include vehicles as long as they are not the focal point themselves (a bomber on a runway, the runway is the focal point).

I am not against a stronghold such as a castle. If you do wish to make a stronghold then you will not be required to build the entire structure. The front entrance and a couple of walls will do.
Examples

an overgrown temple
the crash site of a downed friendly aircraft
a bunker under heavy fire
the last viable runway for takeoff
an open porthole to worlds unknown
