Mediterranean Adventure Part 4 - Imperial Rome

Our ship has docked at Civitavecchia. The total trip time is about 11 hours. We'll walk over 3 miles, Rome is approximately 1 1/2 hours away. I'll try to show you Rome's facinating history with visits to the Vatican where St. Peter's Basilica stands. We'll then toss 3 coins over our left shoulder into the Trevi Fountain. The grandest amphitheater ever built, the Colosseum, where the gladiators once battled for their lives is then visited. The heart of public life, the Roman Forum, concludes our visit to Imperial Rome. We were ready for a long, exciting, and tiring day.
