Cat's Cradle review 3/13/09:

Just when we've become accustomed to Junior's similar, if not exact same shows, he pulls off a performance that is completely out in left field. I don't know if the opening band, Killer Filler struck a nerve or maybe Junior just didn't fill up to vocals (cold maybe?) but I have never seen his playing so extended and exquisite. This was hands down my favorite of all the nine or ten Junior shows I have experienced. When is the last time you remember him doing five or six numbers for an encore??? I couldn't help but think about Stevie Ray's last performance before he boarded that fateful helicopter out of Chicago. Junior was playing like it was his last performance! I can't imagine how his technique could had been any better? I tell you something was different about that show. I have never seen him do so many instrumentals; La Grange (ZZ Top), Steel Guitar Rag (Bob Wills & the Texas playboys), secret agent man, Walk don't run (Ventures), surf medley, SRV number. Outstanding!

Great set of photos too! Amazing work. Great atmosphere.
