We dont have too many canals in Scotland, something to do with the hills !
The Union Canal runs from Edinburgh to Falkirk where it joins the Forth and Clyde Canal which goes all the way to Glasgow.
It was built in 1822 but fell into decline with the age of the railway and then roads, but recently has been subject to a lot of restoration and there is now a navigable waterway all the way to Glasgow once more.
