Early on the morning of Feb 26 before I drove bus I got a call on a downed eagle south of town. The owner of the bait shop John Faucher offered to go and sit and watch until I could get there. After the bus run I called Ginny Halverson and she offered to go with me. Before we went in for the capture we waved down a lone truck driver to help us. This eagle is still here at the Feather, and it does not look all that good for the right foot, but we have not counted her out yet. Everyone is still trying their best to save her.

The eagle was put down because the right foot was completely dead. we are not allowed to have one footed birds for ed or on display. The good foot would in time get open sores because it could not shift weight like a normal bird does.

Couldnt he survive in a center somewhere where people could supply his food? What about AEF? This is so sad. What great effort you all made. Must be heartbreaking for you. Bless you for your work.

If our eagle had a mate to tend to her, this might have been a different outcome. She was not an adult and was found grounded and starving, that tells us she was not being helped by another eagle when down.

That is sad. If Lucy from eagles4kids.com can survive in the wild with her foot injuries, so could this little one......
