One of the objectives I had in this trip was to visit the Grand canyon; I'd read a lot about it and seen hundreds af photographs, but nothing prepared me for the sheer scale of the thing. I also learned quickly that a 2-dimensional photo can never convey the enormous scale and distances involved. You just have to go there and see it for yourself! I was able to return to it a couple of weeks after my first visit, and stayed to capture the progress of a sunset, nearly freezing solid in the process! I was also lucky to fluke a picture of one of the few Condors in the area (No 99, as Maxwell Smart fans will note!)
