8:36 AM, November 8th. On November 13th the North Cascades Highway closed for the season due to heavy snow. I was really lucky (smart?) to make it up here for one last sunrise photoshoot this season. It was a beautiful morning.
Washington Pass on Hwy-20 is at 5,476 feet. The height of Early Winter Spires South is 7,807 feet. My car said it was 18F outside. I was cold but it was worth it.
I was there at 6 AM, way before sunrise. I took a variety of photos during sunrise, but I like this angle. Handheld actually, to get down low.
I like how the road loads you to the trees, to the sunrise mountain, around to the ice waterfall, back to the road.
