Females of these two species usually can't be visually distinguished in the field. Rufous is a migrant through our area; Allen's nests here. Late April is on the late side for Rufous, and Allen's do nest at Ed Levin Park, but this hummer was accompanying Calliope Hummingbirds, which were certainly migrants.
