Black-billed Magpies aren't found in most of California, and in Sierra Valley, where they are resident, they turn out to be hard to photograph. I saw quite a few of them on several drives along Highway 49 between Sierraville and Loyalton, but this was the only one that let me get close enough for a decent picture shot from the car. My first photo of this common and widespread species.
