Vermilion Flycatcher, first-cycle male

Cypress Lawn Cemetery, Colma

First-cycle males vary widely in plumage: this one's is much like an adult male, with mostly red feathers and a few light-colored ones; others resemble adult females, striped brown, light, and salmon, with just a few small patches of red.
