A distant shot. The upperparts pattern is more like the male breeding plumage, large solid patches of black and rufous, but the more streaked and less contrasty head and nape more like typical female. There are somewhat divergent discussions of how to sex breeding plumage birds in Birds of North America Online and Paulson, Shorebirds of North America, with Paulson describing more clearcut sexual dimorphism.
