This beautiful bird is mostly a migrant through the SF Bay Area, but is present in the Santa Cruz Mountains as an uncommon to rare breeder. This male was probably one of the latter, from the late date, the elevated location, the fact of persistent singing, and my brief glimpse of a probable female nearby.
