When I took these pictures in December of 2009, the British moorhens were in the same species as the North American ones. Since then, they have been split, with the old world group getting the English common name Moorhen, and the North American birds reverting to the earlier American name for the lumped species, Common Gallinule. Yep, it's confusing...
