PRAYING MANTIS

Hawkins, TX

Okay, there is a story behind this one. We were blowing up fireworks last night when my sister's step-son's wife, Tammy, jumped up and screamed "Praying Mantis"!!! It evidently freaked her out. Then, I ran over with my camera and chased this little guy around the top of the table until I finally got a shot of it...hard to do when it is dark and can hardly see the little guy and it keeps moving! But, I got it and here's the proof! LOL!

Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi
1/60s f/4.5 at 57.0mm iso400 full exif

other sizes: small medium large auto

I used to play with these guys when I was a kid until I heard that the female bites off the head of the male after mating, EWWWW!. Great tho! Cindi, good lighting for it being dark.

Great shot, Cindi! I've been looking for one of these to shoot all summer! Could you box him up and mail him to me? :)
