AN APPROPRIATE LAST IMAGE

Galveston, TX

This statue still stands on the sea wall. I found it so appropriate to be the last image in this gallery. To me it shows the fight and determination and a call up to God for help. That is what the people of Galveston are doing right now. To all those affected by Hurricane Ike, may the Lord be with you and our prayers are being said. I pray recovery is swift and that all will be well for everyone there. A hard journey is ahead but I know that with God's help, the city can be restored.

A wonderful sculpture, and a really strong end to this gallery. There is always hope.

Cindi, when I first saw this I thought of the ending of Planet of the Apes, with the Statue of Liberty sticking out of the sand. This is a great ending for the gallery and fine sentiment. Thanks for sharing.

Nice shot of this expressive statue. Thanks for explaining it too. It makes the image even more meaningful.

So much emotion in this statue. With the history of Galveston's destructive hurricanes since 1900 this statue is more meaningful than ever. Very good choice.

So much meaning behind this statue, reaching for the heavens for peace and rebuilding; and most of all, asking God for strength to endure. May those who were touched by this storm, soon regain hope and return to their homes and lives soon. What a lovely ending to this touching gallery.
