TRYING TO GET A GRIP

Galveston, TX

This couple I spoke to live in Galveston and they are sitting on only one of very few of these cement benches left. Most of the other benches were across the street, down towards the middle of town, etc... Anyway, they were out there just to talk and get away from their home that was badly damaged. The beach would have gone out past the sign and the man on the little strip of sand in that area was just looking for bodies that tend to wash up on shore each day. We all three talked and cried but they will rebuild. The community is trying to come together and to help each other the best that they can. It will be a long time before things are back to normal.

Let me be thankful for our boring Alberta weather. The earth doesn't shake, the winds only muss up your hair(well for me that's only a fond memory)and if three basements take on water that is a flood.I guess I can put up with a little snow and cold this year.
Great capture here Cindi.Really does capture the emotion.

The human spirit is so very resilient, we draw on reserves from deep within us in times of need. When disasters hit parts of the world we get a 30 second clip on the News Channel and on to the next item - your photograph is personal and meaningful and I'm sure will touch all who look as it will stay in our hearts and minds.

So poignant - but yet with a sense of hope. Thanks for that Cindi it is very thought provoking.

Yes...mother nature can be very destructive at times.
And rollling up our sleeves is not always obvious...
I am sure if this is a couple, this cement their love, at least...i hope.
Moving page of history Cindi...
