Mammals and Amphibians of Rancho Naturalista

I saw surprisingly few mammals at Rancho Naturalista, and only one amphibian, and no reptiles. For this reason I combined the few photographs I took in a single gallery. Perhaps future trips will allow me to expand this gallery. Photographing the bats was a lot of fun. They were taken at night with the flash. I initially tried to take pictures when I saw one coming into the feeder, but was never quick enough. I finally just sat there and took photo after photo, waiting just long enough for the flash to recharge in between, in the hope that I would catch something. After taking about 140 photos altogether on two separate nights, this is what I ended up with.
