Thanks to the boat trip along the Sarapiqui River and the great naturalist guides that the lodge has on staff, I managed to see and photograph a variety of reptiles and lizards. My big disappointment was that I never saw any snakes, another excuse for a return trip. I would like to give a word of warning though, something I learned for the first time on this trip. Evidently taking photographs of frogs with a flash can permanently damage their eyes, so please do not use a flash when photographing these wonderful creatures, they are under enough stress as it is. Consider using a tripod and long exposures instead. Much of the time frogs will sit still enough to allow this sort of photography.
