Western whip snake

Hierophis viridiflavus

This is a juvenile specimen. It was about to be history... as many
unfortunately do in this region. Many get run over by cars, turn into
cat's toys or get decapitated by scared people. This is the only shot
that I managed to get of this little beauty. I have seen quite a few
of them around but they are so incredibly quick, which means that it
is hard to get a decent shot of one. Sorry about my fingers in the
shot but it shows how tiny they are. And nope... they are not dangerous.

other sizes: small medium large original auto

We don't have these back East. I've only seen one out West and he was much faster than I was so I never got close enough to catch hime.
