It had not really been our intention to get cats but an unscheduled visit to the animal shelter browsing for a "small dog" resulted in us returning home with two male kittens. One of them had survived being buried alive and we thought that it would be rather unfortunate for a kitten to survive such an ordeal and subsequently have to be put down as it could not be re homed. The second kitten was a feral one that would probably have survived in the wild but was brought in to the SPA where we were advised against adopting him as he was too wild and would probably not adapt well to humans. Besides that, the feral one had infected eyes and was suffering from respiratory problems. We took the chance and adopted both Lucky Bastard (The English people who rescued the felix cat called him so and we adopted the name) and Tigre (the folks at the SPA referred to him by his markings as tigré... so we adopted that name as well)...

When Flo left, she took Lucky and Tigre with her and the house was empty again... for a while. I adopted a pitch black kitten (I named him Kruimel which is Dutch for Crumb). Much to my surprise it has mysteriously replicated itself. No-one in the area knows of any black kittens, had a litter or is missing a kitten. The two are happy together and Bella loves them both. I rarely see the two together but now that I know that there are two, I have named the second one Nero.

Unfortunatly in spring 2009 one of the black cats was snared and returend home seriously maimed. and the vet was not able to save him. The Tigger, Sr Gato, has now become the Alpha Male... regardless of the fact that he is not my cat.
