My grandmother was born in Windber. Would somebody please properly identify all of these pictures? Not all have descriptions. The local residents may know what some of these buildings and places are, but outsiders don't.

There seems to be more interest in the Windber area from those who have moved away from their roots than from those who are living here. The Windber Area Historical committee, at the Windber Area Museum, are compiling research on the early families and are reaching out for help. Only from the families can we get accurate & informative data to be placed on our family files to be preserved for everyone. Membership , used to support the up-keep of the museum, is only $5.00 per yr. with a quaterly newsletter with local historical stories being mailed out to thank you for your support. I am a former Windber resident. I hope some day you can include an inventory of each cemetery with dates of birth and death. Many Internet users may be looking for long lost relatives, and clues about their existance in and around the Windber area. Perhaps a local church group(s) of volunteers could accomplish this task. (A valuable tool for people doing their genealogies). I love the pictures you have posted. I will check often for updates, pictures, etc.. Thank You Tom Conelly.
