The Windber Area Museum is hosting its annual Christmas Boutique, in the old Buterbaugh Hardware storefront located on the corner of Graham Avenue and 12th Street from Friday, to Dec. 11, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day.
Chairwoman of the boutique committee and treasurer for the Windber Museum, Chris Sadlon said the event would feature everything from homemade candy to crafts to gift items, all at a reasonable cost.
"The boutique brings in a big part of our income to keep the museum open and enable us to do repairs. It really is a nice event," Sadlon said.

Sadlon added that shoppers come from throughout the area to make purchases.
"We have more than 25 vendors this year, so there will be something for everyone," she said.

For more information on the event, call Sadlon at 814-467-913

The Windber Area Museum will be open on weekends this summer from Memorial Day to Labor Day. We have old Windber photos, Whitaker paintings, recently researched military records of those who fought in WWII , some of WWI, we are looking for current records. Our newly developed Heritage Room will also have records of as many pioneer families as we have been able to find history to date and we have the Windber Area newspaper on film. The home is still in the fashion of the simple life in Windber, with a big kitchen stove, ice box, rope bed, and other items of interest. We invite you to visit your home town museum.

Thanks to the research of the Windber Area Museum historical committee along with the Windber VFW a new Wall of Honor is in the military park in Windber. It has the names of those who served from all conflicts who were killed in action or was a prisoner of war. The museum also has a book with all the names, along with the research information that proved qualification, in their files and has printed a small booklet with same information in it for only $12.00 if interested contact them or email pdshaffer1@verzion.net

Thank you to everyone who took the time to visit the museum during the Windber Miner's Day celebration on June 14th.& 15th. Your interest, encouragement, and great comments on how you enjoyed your visit were very much appreciated by the hard workers who are keeping the museum a historical site in our hometown. During this time we have the paintings and prints of Windber born Tom Antonishak on display. Be sure to stop by if you live in Windber or are visiting your hometown. We are open on Saturdays and Sundays from 1-4 p.m.
