the Malay (Austronesian) expansion from China that peopled island SE Asia and later the Pacific Islands.

Filipinos, and other peoples of island SE Asia, are genetically and linguistically related
to Pacific Islanders such as those living in New Zealand, Samoa, Tahiti, and Hawaii.
