The owner of the castle in the 15th century, Erazem Lueger was a known robber baron like Robin Hood, stole from the rich to give to the poor. Erazem killed the emperor's cousin in a duel. Ordered to kill Erazem but unable to besiege the castle, soldiers set up camp in the hills outside the castle for over a year intent on killing Erazem. With no luck, they thought they could starve him out. Unbeknownst to them there was a secret tunnel behind the castle that allowed him to travel to a nearby village for food and supplies. He brought huge amounts of cherries back with him which he threw at the soldiers, taunting them. Finally, the Austrians had the last laugh. They bribed a servant to reveal when Erazem was using the outhouse (the small structure on the left edge of the castle). The servant placed a candle, alerting the soldiers that he was in the latrine, they launched one cannonball, killing Erazem. Talk about dethroning someone!
