The first entry im Messiers catalog (AKA M1) is a supernova remnant in the constellation of Taurus.
It ia nicknamed the Crab nebula.
Since it is still expanding - using "reverse" - the creation of the nebula can be eventually corresponded to the bright SN 1054 supernova recorded by Chinese astronomers in AD 1054.

Therefore "The blast from the past..."
