Chicago's Millennium Park

Millennium Park occupies 24 acres in Chicago's most conspicuous location, bounded by Randolph Street, Michigan Avenue, Monroe Street and Columbus Drive. The site had been an unsightly blemish for generations, consisting mainly of an old rail yard. Mayor Richard M. Daley decided it was time to do something about that blemish and, in 1997, began enlisting the help of local businesses and donors to get the project moving. But it wasn't until Cindy Pritzker enlisted the participation of architect Frank Gehry that the project took wing, figuratively and literally. His design for the Park's outdoor performing arts venue and an accompanying bridge became a catalytic inspiration for the rest of the Park's design.

Photographing Millennium Park has been an ongoing project for me since the Park opened in July, 2004. Today I may have one of the largest and most varied catalogs of Park images in the world. Every time of the day and every season of the year is represented in my Millennium Park image catalog, a sampling of which I present here.

Thank you for visiting my Millennium Park galleries. I hope you enjoy them. I also hope they encourage you to visit Chicago and Millennium Park. Be sure to bring your camera! Chicago is a place that can keep it very busy. You can get further news and information about Millennium Park at the park's web site.
