M 6 or the Butterfly Cluster

Cootamundra, NSW

M 6 or NGC 6405 is a beautiful Open Cluster in the constellation of Scorpio, this cluster is some 20.0 arc minutes wide and shines at a magnitude of 4.60, it is locatd some 1600 Light Years away. It is more commonly called the Butterfly Cluster, other designations are Collider 341, Melotte 178, Raab 122 and OCL 1030.

This shot was an RGB calibration run using the Takahashi FSQ-106 at f/5.0.
