This monochrome image is of NGC 6611, M 16 or as it is called, the Eagle Nebula in the constellation of Serpens. This remarkable object is both a nebulous haze and scattered open cluster of fairly bright stars at least 20 arc minutes across. In photographs the nebula is listed as IC 4703 and is some 35' by 28' and the stars contained within this nebula are young, hot O and B stars.
In the upper right of the image is the open cluster, TR32, it is some 5 arc minutes wide and shines at a magnitude of 12.20.
