Pike Hill turret,remains of,neath a stormy sky

Pike Hill Turret,nr.Birdoswald,Cumbria,UK.

NB:Although incorporated into Hadrian's Wall, the turret at Pike Hill,pre-dated the Wall,by about 40 years, having been one of a number of signal towers constructed,by the Roman Army, under Agricola,in the late 70's AD.It had originally been part of the Stanegate frontier, twixt Corbridge and Carlisle.

Great shot, the lighting and dark sky provides a nice sense of drama.
