Beijing, China - The Beijing (Panda) Zoo (March 2011)

The Beijing Zoo is best known for its collection of rare animals endemic to China including the Giant Pandas, which are zoo's most popular animals. The pandas are one of Beijing’s greatest tourist attractions. The Beijing Zoo was the first of its kind to be opened in China. It contains a diverse collection of animals, 16 different exhibition halls, including the Panda Hall, which was in 1989. The zoo is home to around 450 different species and has a population of some 5,000 animals. All of the zoo's halls and exhibition areas are constructed so as to ensure that the animals enjoy a both comfortable and healthy living environment.
