An hour before sunset, the shadow of Kinsman Ridge moves across Lonesome Lake and up the south flank of Cannon Mountain. Franconia Ridge is further to the east.
Clouds gather over Mount Lafayette, which, at over 5200 feet, seems to command its own weather.
