Nicely done! I like it in B&W that uses so many useful opposites to intensify meaning (a useful thing to look for and one of the characteristics of a powerful image).
-The flatness of the dry lake bed against the jagged profile of the hills
-The (near) uniform brightness of the lake bed against the dark hills and turbulent sky
-I like the crop that makes the lake bed the dominant feature (which it clearly is when there). It was a wonderful experience to stand there in the silence of dawn and to feel one's sense of self dissolve into that utter vastness. There is such sweet potential in that state of "nothingness"; I find that I do my best work when my mind is completely blank and stilled, only then when I quit trying to impose myself on the world, I begin to really "see".
-The golden mean horizon expresses a sense of balance and harmony; very appropriate. That can end up also feeling more static, but the jagged hills and the sky break that up with their visual tension. So the harmony and serenity of the lake bed against the visual tension of the hills and sky; well seen. There is a quiet emotion in this image.
This is an absolutely magical place, difficult to get there and very difficult to photograph. I screwed up all my shots at the RaceTrack. Yours is among the best RTP shots I ever seen. Well done !
