UPPER DOUGLAS LAKE

This reproduced Google-Earth image shows the headwaters of Douglas Lake, a TVA tributary reservoir in East Tennessee. The birds in this gallery were seen in 2007 along the lakeshore as the water level receded, progressively exposing muddy riverbottoms from May until December. The lake dropped 40 feet in elevation from Rankin west to Swann Bridge, a distance of about 20 river miles.
