The Duke's new rain gear

Glasgow

This is a running joke actually which I discovered the last time I was in Glasgow. The students all like to 'decorate" the Duke of Wellington late at night. Usually the authorities remove it the next morning but I guess they felt bad for the Duke in that it was raining and he needed a bit of protection. He sports a poster cape and a traffic cone, and his horse wears a Scotland tourist scarf. Somebody should have put an umbrella in his hand.

I checked the Duke's wardrobe every time we were in the area, which was almost every day passing through, but there were no more wardrobe changes save a crummy seagull on his head.

See what the Duke was wearing four years ago.

Hi Carol

I see that you have visited The Duke once again - i'ts been quite a while since I was there last time, and it looks like they have improved his "gear" from my last visit.
Lovely photo - I really like the rain effect here.

I heard of this story too and it seems that each time the police remove the traffic cone that another one appears the next day ! Very interesting indeed.
..And just below the horse's belly is an advert for womensware. How incongruous !

Students all over like push the envelope. What fun they must have doing this and, most importantly, it provides a great photo-op!!

Too funny, and a good capture, Carol.
