Apuseni area and Scarisoara

The western Carpathians are also known as the Apuseni mountains. It's nothing short of a gorgeous region. We stayed at Garda de Sus, at a beautiful pension run by Mama Utsa. From there we visited Scarisoara, where there is an underground glacier and ice cave. The area is the absolute embodiment of "pastoral."
