Telescope Selection and Acquisition

A Celestron CPC1100 (11" SCT) was acquired in September, 2009.
Local astronomers Bill Shaheen and Bill Dellinges set-up the school's first telescope on Sep. 15, 2009. Pictured along with the Celestron CPC1100 are, L-R, Larry Laprise, PTES Principal; Julia Goucher, PTES Science Teacher; and Bill Dellinges, local astronomer. The telescope will be installed in the Peralta Trail Astronomical Observatory being planned for the Fall of 2009.

The rotating base of the instrument is now parallel with the earth's equator and will now follow the motion of the stars during photography without incurring what is called field rotation.
