C

C is for Coyote, Canis latrans

The snow on its nose might be left from hunting mice in a meadow near Roaring Mountain in Yellowstone.
Since the re-introduction of wolves to Yellowstone in 1995, coyote numbers in the park have declined.
Inside national parks, coyotes are protected; but outside the park, ranchers often shoot them on sight.
