It was a dismal, gray day for our latest
Tall Ships Festival, but this image does actually
look much sharper and nicer than it appears here on Pbase.
The El Galeon was this year's special blockbuster feature,
and we were all a little disappointed that they couldn't
raise the sails for it's entry.
Photographically, the day was an exercise in trying to "make a silk purse
out of a sow's ear", but it was a commendable event, anyway --
the crowds enjoy themselves at this fascinating, but infrequent,
marine-oriented gathering, as they are scattered high and low around the
different vantage points of the city.
We went out on a fishing charter boat this time. I wonder how many thousands of
us there were outside the harbor? When it was all over and the rush began back
to the docks, my husband commented that it looked "like Dunkirk".
