"Pearl S. Buck
She wrote more than 300 published works while living in her Bucks County home.
She conferred with Eleanor Roosevelt and Thurgood Marshall regarding civil rights affairs; Rose Kennedy on the rights of children with disabilities; and President John F. Kennedy on the Korean Conflict.
She was a difference maker. An author. A humanitarian.
So then, why is it that no one seems to know the name Pearl Buck?
"It's really a shame," says Anthony Luna, director of development for the Pearl S. Buck House and Historic Site.
The Pearl S. Buck House sits on a spacious site about 10 minutes north of Doylestown outside the town of Dublin at 520 Dublin Road.
The site is one of only 10 National Historic Landmarks (of 2,342 in existence) that educates the public about a woman's contribution to society using her personal furnishings and belongings.
The historic site is visited by thousands of curious guests each year who come out to learn more about the 20th-century female author and humanitarian and her message of multicultural and humanitarian values. Many schools also schedule field trips to the Pearl S. Buck House.
But, for one reason or another, Pearl Buck's legacy hasn't spread like that of so many other well-known Bucks Countians, like James Michener's or Henry Mercer's.
Luna says the public's fascination with Buck began to slip following her death in 1973.

I had the opportunity to listen to Julie Henning in a spiritual testominy today.
Julie, an Amerasian born in South Korea during the Korean War was brought to America (13 years old) by Pearl S. Buck and adopted as her daughter. When Pearl S. Buck died in 1973, Julie was adopted into a Christian home. From her Ameriasian roots to her life to the family of God, it is truely a incredible and compelling story of her life.
- January 2001, Julie and her husband were honored to present the Pearl S. Buck Women of the Year Award to the Korean President's wife, Madame Lee He Ho.
- In 2006, Julie was also honored to assist the presenting the Pearl S. Buck Women of the Year Award to Laura Bush in 2006.
Julie is in the process of writing a book.
