York Floods December 2015

A small reportage gallery of the recent floods in York, for the first time in almost 30 years since it was opened, the Foss Barrier that protects the River Foss has failed due to water getting into the pumping house, the result of this is that areas of Huntington ( where I live, my house is fortunately fine ) and the route along the river into York have flooded for the first time in over 30 Years.
The water has now started to recede. York was carnage today with no phone lines working, internet down, shops only able to take cash payments and all the cash machines were down, rescue crews from all over the country supporting the emergency services.

Excellent photography of a less than ideal situation. We have also had massive flooding in parts of the US but none were I live beyond high water levels for the rivers. I am glad to see that you and your family are all safe. We have had warm weather but if it had been cold we would have had about 2 feet of snow based on the amount of rain we have had.

Chris and I stayed at Holgate Bridge, not far from the Railway Museum...I hate to think of that lovely city under water....happy to hear your home and you are okay, Colin.

I have been watching the news and have seen some horrendous video footages of the badly affected areas, Colin. I did hope that your house was not one of the ones caught up in it all and thankfully you are safe. Sadly thousands of people have has a terrible Christmas, I feel so sorry for the kids in all this too...
