Kris has sent some photos home from Iraq. This is where I'll post them.

24-Jun-2004 - Update: Kris is home on leave and has brought some more pictures. As I am able, I will post them.

13-Sep-2004 - Update: Kris is back in Camp Cooke (Taji), after being in Najaf for over a month. He's safe and sound, although he tells me that he caught a small bit of "friendly fire" shrapnel in his left leg, just above his knee. He says it's annoying, but nothing too serious. Hopefully, more pics soon. Also - the 2nd Najaf combat picture has been updated: According to Kris, he isn't in the photo, but I think the kneeling soldier sure looks like him.

I'm a teacher at a High School in Kentucky and I would like you to know that I do my best to make these young people here understand what and who you are fighting for. We had a Veterans Day activity that was put on by our JROTC staff at the high school with vets from WWI to Desert Storm. WHAT a great overwhelming pride we all had as the special speaker from WW II cried for the boys that were in harms way. All the best to our soldiers in harms way now!! The battle field is different now with suicide bombers, insurgents, and deceit from people who don't really know what we are there to do. God's speed in your journey and we here in Ashland, Kentucky wish you all the best. God bless all of our troops!! Jimmy Bentine

Whats up buddy, sounds like your doing great. All those pics are pretty sweet. Western is still boring as hell, but we drink a lot of beer so its ok. But you'll be back soon and you can join us. we all miss you and keep up the good work. and lets see some more action shots, i'm sick of all these sleeping pics. don't die and talk to ya later.

Well here I am back in Iraq, and back form Najaf. I want to thank everyone for all of your support. It really helps when you are over 6,000 miles away from everyone and everything you love. The days kind of string together, but fortunately the days are getting cooler, so i don't get yelled at as much for rolling my sleeves up. Gotta love the Cav.....ok i really don't. But anyway, thank you all again for your support and messages. They brighten up an otherwise dull day (even though i haven't seen rain in about 7 months :) ) If you would like to e-mail me, my address is above and feel free to ask me anything you want. i will tell you how it really is. Kris - I am good friend of your Dad's from Nike. Just wanted to drop a note and express by admiration for what you are doing for this country. You guys are under extremely dangerous conditions that none of us can imagine. Things... we've only seen in movies is your reality. We are proud of what you are doing for us all.

Hi Kris, I wanted to let you know our thoughts and prayers are always coming your direction...In addition, there are two large boxes on there way to you...They are full of sacks with goodies in them. My 6th, 7th, & 8th grade special ed classes wrote letters and we put together some goody bags for you and many of your buddies serving with you...There are two big sacks for you with my letter on them, the rest you can distribute to your friends. They all have your name on the letters...but they are for anyone you want to share with. School is out, but if anyone wants to write back to my students I will make sure they get the letters. We love you and I am sending you tons of energy!!! Let us know when you are on leave...we would love to see you!!! If I didn't know any better, I'd swear it was a fake. ;-) Glad to hear you're coming home, even if it's only for a while. Spend lots more time with your Mom than you can... trust me. And find a half hour to talk to Uncle Rick, ok. Lots of love and prayers, Uncle Rick, Aunt Donna, Andrea, Cody and the furry things. P.S. I'm still counting on you making that trip to Colorado.
