Previous Observatory in Campbell ACT Australia

In the second half of 2006 I upgraded the NJP mount to have GOTO capabilities by
fitting the excellent FS2 GOTO system, manufactured by Michael Koch at
Astro Eletronic in Germany: http://www.astro-electronic.de/fs2.htm

After a few minutes polar aligning, via the NJP polar scope, all sky goto's
are then accurate enough to land the object on my MX716 chip (20' X 15' FOV)
each time!

I purchased the 12V version of FS2 which allows a top slew speed of 160X sidereal.
This slew speed is plenty for the older NJP mount which has bushes rather than
bearings in the worm housings so high slew speeds are not recomended.

The ESCAP stepper motors are extremely quiet and responsive. So far I have kept
the slew speed to 150X and this has been quite acceptable and not too slow with
the mount moving like a pofessional telescope might do. The tracking is smooth and
accurate with no sign of steps even at high power and the autoguiding is smooth
and spot on!

The FS2 is accurate, easy to use and was extremely easy to fit.
FS2 can be fitted to most mounts if you want simple and accurate goto
