NGC 1232 a Spiral Galaxy in Eridanus

click on image to see some comparisons

First full colour image from Eagleview Observatory in Australia

NGC 1232 is a face on, intermediate spiral galaxy, located about 60 million light-years away in the constellation Eridanus.
Its apparent size of 7.4' X 6.5' makes it a modest size galaxy on the sky and under good atmospheric conditions shows a wealth
of detail in its colourful whirling spiral arms, including pink-red emission nebulae and many clusters of bright blue stars.

Very nice Mister Mike! Glad your new observatory is in gear. As you would expect from me, the only thing left to say is I hope a planetary nebula image is coming!
