Out of the Past

by

Two bottles and an oil lamp...tokens of years gone by. The shorter bottle is a replica of a very old Coca Cola bottle.
The taller one is a "Codd" bottle and is truly very old. Codd bottles were invented in 1872 by Hiram Codd.
These bottles were filled upside down and sealed by a marble inside; children often broke the bottles to get the marble out.
For the story and a closer view of a Codd bottle, click here and scroll about half way down the page.

Except for the exceptional clarity, this looks like it could have been taken many years ago. I love the beautiful soft light that just illuminates every curve and turn of the various glass shapes. Beautiful work Art. Lora

Bottles - a wonderful, nostalgic image of the past. Love that oil lamp. Beautiful curves and colors in this superb shot. And thank you for the story behind the photo.

A very lovely composition and great light as well. And thank you for the explanation! That Coke bottle really amazed me!
